HONEYMOON:     Honeymoon is the month after marriage or so much of it as it as is spent away from home.  It is so called from the practice of the ancient - feutons of drinking honey wine for thirty days aftr marriage.

EVIL EYE: In olden days it is believed that the eyes of certain persons give out noxious rays on objects which they looks upon.  The first morning glances of such eyes was certain destruction to man or beast, but the destruction was infrequently the result of starvation. Virgil speaks of an evil eye making cattle lean.

  ELDORADO: T his means a fictitious country or city having plenty of gold. It was believed in the days of the Spanish explorers that  somewhere in South America there was a country abounding in gold and precious stones.  The term is used to denote any place  of rich promise.

CARPET KNIGHT: This term is used to refer to a "stay-at-home" soldier.  Civilians in olden days who were honoured with knighthood were styled "Carpet Knights'.  This was because they received the honour during times of peace kneeling on a carpet in the presence of a king".
